Graduate of Poznań “School for Talents”, he studied cello at Academies of Music in Poznań and Łódź. Since 1997, in his artistic work he has primarily focussed on historical delivery methods. Participant of master classes at Dresdner Akademie für Alte Musik (Christine Kypranides), he completed post-graduate studies at Universität der Künste in Berlin, in Phoebe Carrai and Markus Möllenbeck’s class of Baroque cello (diploma cum laude).
Jarosław Thiel has collaborated with leading Polish early music ensembles; at present, he is mainly active on the German scene. Since 2000, he has been the first cello player with the Dresdner Barockorchester. He is also member of the FestspielOrchester Göttingen led by Nicholas McGegan, as well as collaborates with other principal German ensembles, like the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin or the Lautten Compagney. As soloist and chamber musician, he gives regular concerts and performs at numerous early music festivals in Poland and abroad.
